Ball screws are forms of linear actuators that are utilised in a range of fashions, most typically as they are linear actuators which usually generate small levels of friction. This occurrence greatly decreases the efficiency of any apparatus. Friction is a term used to describe a reluctance to move, that is generated between a pair of objects that are resting against each other. It is the surface structure of these bodies that shows if, the resistance to movement will be high or low. In general, the less rough the outer layer, the less friction that will occur between the two bodies.
